A reading map,
with receipts.
We organize the collection around respected researchers and the work that helps explain their ideas.
How researchers are chosen
This is an editorial selection of 50 researchers across industry and academia. We consider influential methods and systems, contributions that other researchers build on, and coverage across language, vision, reinforcement learning, efficient computing, safety, and scientific applications. It is not a numbered ranking or a claim that everyone important is included.
Why ten works per profile
Each profile combines selected foundational work with recent publications available in the source records we checked. We prioritize an accessible original manuscript and a verifiable author match. The balance varies by researcher. A recent paper is not automatically a major advance, and an influential paper is not necessarily recent.
Shared papers appear in more than one researcher’s profile and lead to one reading page. Ten selections per researcher therefore do not mean 500 different papers. The existing research catalogue remains available alongside these collections.
What we verify
Authorship, title, source record, manuscript link, and source dates are checked against arXiv or the original publisher. Name variants are reviewed, including initials and alternative ordering. Researcher profiles describe published contributions; a coauthor listing does not establish which individual performed each part of the work.
Academic profile links point to the researcher or their institution. Our Academia filter connects readers with academic researchers and their selected work; collaborations may span universities and companies. Consult the original manuscript for affiliations at the time of publication.
Dates and explanations
The source date on an arXiv record describes the manuscript’s posting there. It can be later than the first conference or journal appearance. Updates do not reset that date. Historical research keeps its date.
Editorial explanations are written in our own words and separated from the original manuscript. Some newly added reading-path entries have a publication record and complete paper while an explanation is still being prepared. Those pages are excluded from our search sitemap until they have useful editorial context.
What this is not
Profiles are independent editorial guides, not researcher-managed accounts. Inclusion does not imply Council membership, endorsement, availability for advice, or agreement with our explanations. Council membership is a separate, voluntary relationship and is displayed only with the member’s consent. We do not invent contact details, citation counts, affiliations, or popularity scores.
